We are currently seeking an Electronics Technician who is passionate about working with electronic systems and solving complex technical challenges. In this role, you will play a key part in the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic components and equipment that form the foundation of our next‑generation products.
Job Purpose
Support the development, assembly, integration, and testing of electronic systems and components for spacecraft, ensuring their functionality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other technicians to support various space missions and projects. Provide technical assistance and support during the development and testing phases of projects.
- Harnessing: Assemble, test and install wiring harnesses for electronic systems. Ensure all harnesses meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Mechanical Assembly: Assemble mechanical components and structures for electronic systems. Ensure precise alignment and secure fastening of all mechanical parts.
- Electronics Assembly: Produce printed circuit assemblies by means of hand soldering electronic components, primarily SMT devices with the aid of a microscope. Verify the integrity and functionality of assembled electronic systems.
- Cleaning and Bonding: Perform thorough cleaning of electronic/mechanical components and completed assemblies. Stake electronic components and bond mechanical assemblies accurately to ensure high reliability. Ensure corresponding chemical solutions, adhesives and epoxies are stored appropriately, applied correctly, and replenished as required.
- Integration and Testing: Integrate electronic and mechanical systems to form complete units. Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure system functionality and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during testing.
- Production-Related Documentation: Study and interpret specifications, assembly drawings and assembly instructions in preparation for hand soldering. Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, test results, and maintenance activities. Update production-related documentation to reflect any changes or modifications. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair any issues with electronic systems and components.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory of electronic materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels. Request, receive, and store electronic materials and supplies as needed. Kit components for reflow and hand soldering processes.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards in all laboratory activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all laboratory activities meet the highest quality standards. Implement quality control measures throughout the testing and maintenance processes. Perform thorough inspections on incoming and outgoing components and assemblies and complete reports on findings. Participate in peer‑reviews of completed assemblies and documentation.
- Project Management: Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines. Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in electronic technology and laboratory practices. Propose and implement improvements to laboratory procedures and equipment.
Required Qualifications
Higher National Certificate /National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or related field.
Required Experience
3-5 years of hands‑on experience working with electronic systems and components. Proficiency in working with embedded systems including firmware loading and automated testing. Previous experience in a laboratory setting, conducting tests and experiments on electronic systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for testing and troubleshooting. Experience in assembling and integrating electronic and mechanical systems. Proficiency in harnessing, mechanical assembly, and electronics assembly. Experience in maintaining and repairing electronic systems and laboratory equipment. Ability to maintain detailed records of laboratory activities and generate reports on findings.
Recommendations
