Silverwood Recruitment is currently seeking a Payroll & Accounts Administrator for a leading food processing company supplying fresh and chilled products to major retailers, including Marks & Spencer, Ocado, Waitrose, Dunnes, and Morrisons. Working as part of the Finance team, this key role ensures the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for approximately 500 employees. The successful candidate will also support accounts receivable and payable functions while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor time and attendance records.
- Maintain and administer deduction records, including periodical returns and payments.
- Update payroll records and filing systems regularly.
- Calculate SSP, SMP, and SPP when required and administer company sick pay.
- Maintain accurate pension records.
- Work closely with HR to ensure payroll accuracy and up-to-date employee information.
- Produce and reconcile weekly payroll reports using Sage.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC payroll reporting regulations and company policies.
- Handle payroll queries via email, phone, and in person.
- Process ad hoc reports as required.
- Prepare the weekly payroll journal for upload.
- Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
- Perform general administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the office.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 3 years experience processing payroll and using a time and attendance system.
- Minimum 3 years experience working within a finance function.
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade C or above.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Working knowledge of Sage Payroll and UK PAYE rules/statutory regulations.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- IATI Qualification.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of NTD / Workflow Infinity time and attendance system.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
