MEDICAL SERVICES TEAM
Medical Services are here for everyone, providing and coordinating year-round medical cover for all on and off-track events at Silverstone.
We have over 100 healthcare professionals within the Silverstone Medical Team pool of contractors, most of whom normally work in the NHS or other private healthcare settings. These include doctors, nurses, operating department practitioners, radiographers, paramedics and ambulance crew. Our CQC registered Medical Centre consists of a 4-bed resuscitation room, 2-bed minor treatment room, 2 x 4 bed observation areas, burns room and imaging suite. And, we operate a fleet of 4 medical response cars and 5 ambulances.
With a combination of race meetings, track days, corporate hire, testing and drive experiences, the track is in use most days. We see patients including spectators, contractors, staff and visitors alike and we pride ourselves on being able to offer such high-quality care.
JOB PURPOSE
Deliver high quality pre-hospital emergency care to patients and support the Medical Services Manager in the provision and supervision of medical resources for all activities at the venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, social and holistic care to patients in the pre-hospital environment in accordance with agreed Medical Services policies, guidelines and pathways, and where appropriate FIA/FIM regulations, working as a solo responder, as a member of an ambulance crew or as a member of a doctor-led multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertake lifting, carrying, and moving of patients and/or equipment in accordance with current practice.
  • Drive medical vehicles to an appropriate standard, using emergency driving skills to respond to incidents both on and off the track when required, in accordance with recognised practice.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team with the day to day operation of the SCL Medical Centre and Medical Services vehicle fleet, including but not limited to ensuring that equipment checks, management of consumables, cleaning and servicing are undertaken appropriately; maintaining equipment and resources in a state of readiness, conducting regular checks and servicing as required. Report to the Medical Leadership Team on status of equipment, pharmaceuticals, and personnel.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team with the allocation of duties to appropriate Medical Team contractors, taking into account the differing clinical grades and experience required.
  • Notify the Medical Leadership Team relation to any serious incidents.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team in ensuring that the regulations and requirements of National and International Motorsport governing bodies are implemented in relation to the provision of Medical Services.
  • Act as a Bronze Commander (Medic Bronze) for large events at the venue.
  • Deputise for the Medical Services Leadership Team, which may include acting as a point of contact and be available to co-ordinate SCL Medical Services under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and/or SCL Duty Manager for all events where identified by the Medical Leadership Team.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team in ensuring the safe retention, processing or disposal of patient data, organisations and individuals in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA18).
  • Ensure that administrative tasks are undertaken in accordance with SCL policies and procedures and in a timely manner.
  • Undertake relevant continuing professional development to ensure up to date knowledge within the clinical sector.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team in ensuring the recruitment and retention of appropriately qualified and experienced Medical Services personnel and contractors meets the needs of the business and follows internal processes including compliance with the SCL Medical Services Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of appropriate learning and development programmes to support the SCL Medical Services team and SCL personnel, partners and contractors as required by the Medical Leadership Team.
  • Support Medical Services team members in maintaining their core competencies, completing their CPD and verifying that the activities undertaken benefit their practice and service users.

  • Ensure that orders for consumables, pharmaceuticals and other equipment requiring replenishment or replacement are presented to the Medical Leadership Team for authorisation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure clinical areas of the medical centre are clean, tidy and ready for operation at all times.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team with an accurate Medical Services stock inventory of consumables and other equipment.
  • Support the Medical Leadership Team in creating an environment and proactive culture within the department which supports the year on year delivery of first-class medical services.
