About The Role
Job Purpose: Control entry / exit and movement of people at events held at SCL; monitor customers, members of the public, contractors, visitors, clients and associates; deal with related enquiries and issues; support the work of the security team; deal with incidents and emergencies at events.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Conduct duties in a manner which represents the core values of the business.
- Maintain a high commitment to customer service.
- Maintain a good level of communication with the Security Team in particular over potential opportunities to work at events.
- Once accepted to work at an event, ensure your attendance unless there is a good reason communicated sufficiently in advance.
Team Responsibilities:
- Work within a wider team providing a high level of service in all security related matters.
Key Relationships:
- Maintain good relationships with work colleagues, members of the public, contractors, visitors, clients and associates.
Your Role:
- Provide excellent customer service to persons on premises owned or controlled by SCL.
- Monitor for breaches of conditions of entry and unacceptable behaviour and provide an appropriate response, or alert a supervisor.
- Take responsibility for reporting any incidents which could affect the safety of customers at SCL.
- Provide verbal and written reports when required, including to the police and other agencies.
- Comply with all aspects of Health & Safety relevant to the role and report any incidents or near misses.
- Comply with the Health and Safety Policy and the standard operating procedures applicable to the role.
- Be familiar with and understand any necessary action concerning fire and fire drills, the location of first aid facilities, the accident reporting procedure, work procedures and risk assessments relevant to their work activity together with control measures.
- Work in accordance with any written or verbal instructions from your line manager.
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment and safety devices in accordance with information, instruction and training received.
- Report missing or defective equipment to your line manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, be motivated and committed to the role.
- Calm and efficient, able to work under pressure.
- Have a polite and courteous manner.
- Adapt to different and changing situations.
- Be flexible to work in different locations and stewarding / security roles within SCL.
- Be of smart appearance and personal hygiene with good communication skills.
- Help to manage conflict, demonstrate confidence to challenge people, when necessary, to comply with safety rules and moderate language or behaviour.
- Remain stationary for prolonged periods, either standing or seated, climb and descend stairs.
- Willing to undertake training relevant to the role as required.
- Ability to read a number plate at 20 metres (DVLA standard) with the aid of glasses or contact lenses if worn.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- The role involves walking, standing, bending and climbing stairs; it may also involve lifting and carrying heavy items.
Desirable:
- Ability to undertake lifting and carrying of heavy items (e.g., crowd control barriers / tables / chairs).
- Previous experience of working within the event management industry.
- Previous relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level II in Spectator Safety / Providing Security Services; SIA Door Supervisor).
