The role
As an Application Engineer, you'll be on the front line of our customer and partner experience. You'll own technical issues end-to-end, from investigation and reproduction through to resolution, while acting as a trusted technical expert on SilverRail's products and APIs. You'll work closely with customers, third-party partners, and our internal Product and Engineering teams to ensure reliable, high-performing integrations and outstanding service.
What you'll do
- Triage, investigate, and resolve customer and partner technical issues
- Act as the technical bridge between customers, third parties, and internal teams
- Monitor services, identify abnormal behaviour, and prevent customer impact
- Analyse XML and JSON API flows, logs, and transactions to diagnose issues
- Manage incidents in line with KPIs and SLAs, including major incidents
- Create documentation, training materials, and share best practices
- Proactively identify improvements to enhance reliability and customer experience
- Participate in a rotational out-of-hours on-call support schedule
What you'll bring
- 5+ years' experience in an Application Engineer or similar technical support role
- Knowledge of the rail or travel industry (professional experience preferred)
- Strong experience supporting RESTful, API-driven integrations
- Confidence working with XML, JSON, SQL, and complex transaction flows
- Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort working across multiple stakeholders
- Clear communication skills and a strong customer-first mindset
- Experience with Agile environments
Hybrid-first: Work remotely with 1–2 monthly visits to our central London office.
