ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Underwriting Team Assistant is responsible for providing administrative, operational and underwriting support to the underwriting team.

The role plays a key part in ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the portfolio by supporting underwriting processes, maintaining accurate records and systems, assisting with credit control activities and helping manage relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.

This position is designed as an entry-level role for an individual looking to develop a career within the insurance and reinsurance industry.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Underwriting Assistant, Assistant Underwriter(s) and Underwriter(s), supporting the team while gaining exposure to underwriting operations and portfolio management.

  • MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative support to the underwriting team, including maintaining files, records and correspondence.
  • Accurately enter, update and maintain underwriting data within relevant systems and databases.
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of underwriting documentation, reports and submissions.
  • Support credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding balances and following up on payment queries.
  • Assist in maintaining underwriting and management information reports.
  • Ensure underwriting systems and records remain accurate, complete and up to date.
  • Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational queries.
  • Support the team with portfolio administration and ad hoc project work.
  • Assist with document management, filing and audit requests.
  • Develop an understanding of underwriting processes, products and market practices.
