As the Head of Engineering, you'll lead and inspire our fast‐growing engineering teams across our key regions in the UK, India, and Spain, collaborating directly with the CTO, VP of Projects, stakeholders, and project teams to define innovative technology solutions and deliver secure, robust, and trustworthy products with AI and automation at the forefront.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multi‐disciplinary engineering organisation (15+ engineers across software, data, platform, and AI), fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the end‐to‐end product and solution architecture, with a strong emphasis on code quality, performance optimisation, security, scalability, and responsible AI practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO to define and execute a technical roadmap aligned with business strategy, ensuring predictable delivery and long‐term platform evolution.
  • Collaborate with Projects, Data Science, and other technical leaders to manage scope, meet delivery commitments, and clearly communicate progress, risks, and trade‐offs to stakeholders.
  • Architect, build, and deploy scalable, cloud‐native, AI‐powered, and data‐driven products across AWS.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in cloud, platform, data, and AI engineering to continuously evolve organisational standards and solutions.
  • Lead the technical evolution of internal AI platforms and systems to enable world‐class predictive and intelligent business operations.
  • Drive the integration of AI, automation, agents, and modern tooling (including model context protocol capabilities) to enhance developer productivity and delivery pipelines.
  • Champion engineering excellence by defining, influencing, and embedding best practices across the organisation, including DevOps, testing, documentation, microservices architecture, database design, and rigorous security standards.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and frameworks to increase speed, quality, scalability, and time‐to‐market.
  • Establish, track, and optimise clear KPIs and delivery metrics to measure quality, performance, and predictability at both team and organisational levels.
  • Oversee technology delivery and customer engagements, setting and maintaining a high bar for product excellence and execution.
  • Play a key role in hiring, performance optimisation, and succession planning to build and sustain a high‐performing engineering function.
  • Lead a geographically distributed engineering organisation primarily based in India, ensuring strong alignment, communication, and delivery excellence with leadership teams in Europe.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in engineering management and technical leadership, with a proven track record of delivering mission‐critical, high‐value products and services.
  • Deep expertise in Agile methodologies, engineering metrics, and building high‐performing, collaborative teams.
  • Experience thriving in fast‐paced, rapidly growing, and product‐led organisations, with the ability to align teams, set milestones, and drive results.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a focus on over‐communicating, creating alignment, and rallying teams to achieve objectives.
  • Attention to detail and a relentless drive to achieve success in your areas of focus, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Experience managing distributed or remote teams across multiple time zones.
  • Enthusiasm for AI‐enabled engineering, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Expert in PHP and Golang, with substantial experience building large‐scale PHP‐based projects and integrating with external systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, relational database design (RDS), and proficiency with AI search technologies (AWS).
  • Hands‐on experience with AI technologies and their application in software development.
  • A minimum of 12 years in software engineering, with at least 8 years working on large‐scale projects.
  • Experience developing software for financial institutions is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated collaborator with a history of working effectively with developers, product teams, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communicator, able to document processes clearly and interact effectively across teams.
  • Skilled troubleshooter with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issues successfully.
