As the Head of Systems, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility for office systems and networks, end-user computing, identity, networks, SaaS platforms, and operational resilience. It combines hands-on technical leadership (circa 90%) with people management and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the systems team by providing technical direction and operational oversight.
- Own the Microsoft estate, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Microsoft Entra / identity and access management and Windows-based end-user environments (with some Mac and iOS devices).
- Oversee end-user computing and device fleet management, including device standards, provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management and secure remote access and endpoint security controls.
- Oversee infrastructure operations including servers, networks, storage, virtualisation, and end-user platforms.
- Manage SaaS platforms and third-party vendors, ensuring secure configuration, cost control, and operational reliability.
- Own identity, access, and authentication controls, including privileged access and governance.
- Perform and oversee systems security controls, including endpoint protection and user environment security.
- Ensure systems are secure, resilient, and audit-ready, supporting regulatory and risk requirements.
- Define, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
- Own the availability, resilience, and performance of global systems supporting 24/7 operations across all offices.
- Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code to improve reliability and service quality with the support of the CTO.
- Manage strategic vendors, cloud providers, and managed service partners.
- Mentor and train junior systems team.
Requirements:
- 8+ years’ experience in infrastructure/systems roles.
- Proven background in hands-on infrastructure engineering.
- Strong experience managing enterprise Microsoft environments (M365, Entra, Windows).
- Experience owning or heavily influencing: End-user computing at scale, Identity and access management, Networks and remote access, SaaS platforms and vendor relationships.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including regular interaction with senior and executive-level leaders.
- Comfortable balancing strategic ownership with hands-on technical delivery.
- Experience working in global organisations with multiple offices and time zones.
