About this Role
We are seeking to appoint anenthusiastic and innovative Level 2 Teaching Assistant.
Applicants should demonstratestrong numeracy, literacy and communication skills and, ideally, haveexperience working with pupils with additional needs. A good understanding ofprimary curriculums and a commitment to helping young people achieve their potentialare essential. Experience in a school setting is required.

Job description
The post holder must at all times carry out their responsibilities within the spirit of the school and trust policies and withinthe framework of legislation relating to academies and education, withparticular regard to the statutory responsibilities of the trust and the governing body of the school.
The specific duties and responsibilities include but arenot limited to:
Specific duties and responsibilities
- To be responsible for providing pupil support tothe standards required by the academy and appropriate external bodies. Dutieswill include, but not be limited to:
1.1 Support for pupils
- Support pupils to engage and interact withothers and in take part in activities led by the teacher
- Set challenging and demanding expectations andpromote self-esteem and develop independent learning
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation toprogress and achievement under guidance of the teacher
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of allpupils
- Supervise and provide particular support forpupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access tolearning activities
- Assist with the reviewing of SEN Support Plans
- Establish productive working relationships withpupils and parents/ carers and interact with them according to individual needs
- To act as a key worker to individual or groupsof children
1.2 Support for the teacher
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly andsupportive environment and assist with the display of pupils' work
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, tosupport pupils to achieve learning outcomes
- Assist with the planning of learning activities
- Monitor pupils' responses to learning activitiesand accurately record achievement/progress as directed
- Provide detailed and regular feedback toteachers on pupils' achievement, progress and next steps
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptlywith conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouragepupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour
- Establish constructive relationships withparents/carers
- Administer routine tests and undertake routinemarking of pupil's work
- Provide clerical/admin support e.g.photocopying, typing, filing, money, administer coursework etc.
1.3 Support for the curriculum
- Undertake structured and agreed learningactivities/teaching interventions adjusting activities according to pupilresponses
- Undertake interventions linked to local andnational learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy etc.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activitiesand develop pupils' competence and independence in its use
- Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resourcesrequired to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupilsin their use
Support for the trust/school
- Beaware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection,health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting allconcerns to an appropriate person.
- Workin a flexible way to respond to the needs of the trust and to fulfil otherduties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade and role as and whenrequired.
- Beaware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.
- Appreciateand support the role of other professionals.
- Attendand participate in relevant meetings as required.
- Contributeto the overall ethos/work/aims of the trust/schools.
- Participatein relevant training, other learning activities and performance management asrequired.
- Teamresponsibilities: all staff are considered part of the overall trust team andmay be required to provide assistance to colleagues in other areas from time totime commensurate with the role, skillset and grade.
- From time to time, to meet the needs of the trust, youmay be asked but not expected to work hours additional to your normal workinghours. The trust will give you as muchnotice as possible and you will be paid/recompensed for such work. Situations where this might be required are,for example: relevant key school events such as open evenings, exam resultsdays, trips, clubs, training etc.
Changes to these duties
The above duties are not exhaustive, and the post holdermay be required to undertake tasks, roles and responsibilities as maybe reasonably assigned to them by the Headteacher.
The jobdescription and allocation of particular responsibilities will be kept underreview and may be amended via consultation with individuals, the governing bodyor board of trustees and/or senior leadership team as required. Trade unionrepresentation will be welcomed in any such discussions.
