Silverdale Medical Practice is seeking a Salaried General Practitioner to work Monday, Tuesday and Friday, providing high quality care to approximately 12,700 patients across Swinton, Pendlebury and Clifton. The role involves 6 clinical sessions per week and is suited to an experienced GP or someone looking to develop within a forward‑thinking multidisciplinary team. You will work alongside GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Pharmacists, Nurses and a highly skilled management and administrative team, using EMIS Web and Accurx digital systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality clinical care to patients through face‑to‑face, telephone and online consultations.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national guidance.
  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
  • Review and act on pathology results, clinical correspondence and associated workflow tasks.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records using EMIS Web.
  • Provide appropriate follow‑up care and continuity for patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Support safeguarding processes for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, educational sessions and practice development activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement work, enhanced services and contractual requirements including QOF and local initiatives.
  • Participate in audit and clinical governance activities where appropriate.
  • Maintain professional registration, appraisal and revalidation requirements.
  • Work within GMC guidance and practice policies at all times.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage a broad range of clinical presentations in general practice.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services.
  • Use Advice and Guidance pathways where clinically appropriate.
  • Promote preventative healthcare and health education.
  • Work collaboratively with ARRS staff and community services.
  • Escalate concerns regarding patient safety where necessary.
  • Support safe prescribing and medicines optimisation initiatives.

Communication and Team Working

  • Develop effective working relationships with all members of the practice team.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, carers and external agencies.
  • Participate in regular multidisciplinary and clinical meetings.
  • Support a positive, respectful and collaborative working culture.

Information Governance and Confidentiality

  • Maintain confidentiality relating to patients, staff and the business of the practice.
  • Comply with Data Protection legislation, Information Governance requirements and practice policies.
  • Use all IT systems appropriately and securely.

Health and Safety

  • Work in accordance with practice health and safety policies.
  • Report incidents, concerns and risks appropriately.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified General Practitioner with current GMC registration and licence to practise.
  • Included on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • MRCGP qualification or equivalent recognised GP qualification.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Evidence of appraisal and revalidation compliance.

Experience

  • Experience working within UK General Practice.
  • Experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently and manage clinical workload safely and effectively.
  • Experience maintaining accurate clinical records using clinical IT systems.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience working within a large multidisciplinary GP practice.
  • Experience using EMIS Web and Accurx.
  • Interest in quality improvement and service development.
  • Experience contributing to QOF, enhanced services or local incentive schemes.
  • Knowledge of Primary Care Network working and local NHS priorities.
  • Interest in teaching, mentoring or supervision.
  • Experience working collaboratively with ARRS roles and community teams.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Remuneration

£10,000 to £11,500 a session, dependent on experience.
