Overview

Silver Linings School is a small Independent Day School providing a creative, therapeutic and individualised approach to learning for children aged 5-11 years. We specialise in providing a unique educational journey for children with complex needs due to adverse childhood experiences, utilising a therapeutic approach based on the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and PACE. We are searching for a team of dedicated, like minded individuals to be part of this new school and to help build on our values and vision for both the young people and the team.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning.
  • Work with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students.
  • Manage classroom resources.
  • Take children on educational trips and visits.
  • Have their lunch with children who struggle socially.
  • Have a good basic understanding of English and Maths.
  • Keep children safe when they are experiencing heightened behaviours with strong behaviour management skills and excellent communication.
  • Create, play and teach games to pupils to develop their social skills or further their learning.
  • Celebrate success.
  • Participate in therapeutic training sessions or reflecting on difficult periods.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs and past trauma
  • Knowledge of early childhood development
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively educate and engage students in learning activities
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher
