About Silver Cross

Silver Cross is the original British nursery brand, trusted by families for nearly 150 years. Based in the Yorkshire countryside, we bring together heritage, design and innovation to create luxury baby products loved around the world - supported by knowledgeable, passionate people who care deeply about what they do.

The Role

We’re looking for a Product Design Documentation Coordinator to take ownership of creating, updating and managing the detailed documentation that brings our product designs and technical requirements together. Using approved information provided by our design and technical experts, you’ll use Adobe Creative Suite to produce clear, accurate and visually effective product specifications, instruction manuals and product labels. You’ll work across Design, Technical, Creative and other teams to ensure complex product information is translated into documentation that can be clearly understood and used by our manufacturing partners. This is a documentation and specification-focused role rather than a product or graphic design role. You won’t be responsible for developing design concepts; instead, your expertise will lie in taking approved design and technical information and turning it into comprehensive, accurate and professionally presented product documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating, updating and managing detailed product specifications using Adobe Creative Suite, including information relating to product appearance, materials, labelling, packaging and shipping requirements.
  • Producing and maintaining clear instruction manuals and product labels using approved technical and design information.
  • Working closely with designers, technical experts, engineers, QA and other teams to translate product information into accurate, easy-to-use documentation.
  • Ensuring product documentation follows agreed standards and relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing document versions, approvals, change control and traceability across product documentation.
  • Compiling and maintaining product bills of materials to support compliance and environmental reporting.
  • Coordinating documentation with overseas manufacturing partners and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining clear trackers for documentation requirements, outstanding information, approvals, review dates and key delivery milestones.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation is completed and available in line with product development deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

We’re open to applicants with different levels of experience and are interested in the skills you can bring to the role. You might have developed your Adobe Creative Suite and documentation skills through higher education, training or practical project work, or you may already have experience in a similar documentation, design or product-related role. What's most important is that you have strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, an exceptional eye for detail, and the ability to take detailed information and turn it into clear, accurate and professionally presented documentation.

Essential experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator, gained through education, training, project work or employment.
  • Experience of producing detailed, structured documentation or design materials, whether through study, projects or professional experience.
  • Ability to take detailed information and translate it into clear, structured and professionally presented documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple documents, priorities and deadlines.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with technical and creative colleagues while also working autonomously when required.

Useful but not essential:

  • Experience creating product specifications, instruction manuals or product labels.
  • Familiarity with 2D technical drawings and graphical illustration.
  • Experience supporting product design or technical teams to communicate product requirements to manufacturing partners.
  • Knowledge of product, hardware, fabric or textile terminology.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers or suppliers.
  • Experience using spreadsheets, document trackers, document control or file-management processes.
  • Experience working with product compliance or safety documentation.

What’s in it for you?

  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, plus a day off for your birthday
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Salary sacrifice pension with 5% company contribution, available to all ages
  • Cash Health Plan
  • Virtual GP
  • Life Insurance
