Purpose of the Role: They are looking for a hands-on Transport Manager to take full responsibility for their day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strong commercial performance. This is not a desk-based role. They are looking for someone who is present, proactive, and confident in managing drivers, challenging performance, and maintaining full control of the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage transport operations, including routing, planning, and fleet utilisation.
  • Monitor and improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and downtime.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation and operator requirements.
  • Take ownership of cost control, KPIs, and operational profitability.
  • Work closely with planners and operational teams.
  • Lead and manage drivers, ensuring performance and accountability.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness.
  • Ensure reliable and timely service delivery, resolving customer issues and complaints effectively.
  • Support maintaining accreditation standards, including the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transport or logistics.
  • Minimum 2 years managing drivers or operational teams.
  • CPC qualified or actively working towards it.
  • Experience using TMS, routing systems, and MS Office.
  • Good knowledge of the Oxfordshire area.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in waste management / skip hire / similar industry.
  • IOSH or equivalent safety training.
