Silver Arrow are looking for a Group Risk & Claims Officer for our transport client based in Middlewich. This is a permanent position.
Your Salary: Up to £35,000pa
Your Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 0800 to 1700 (with on-call responsibility for RTCs) 1 hour lunch
We are currently recruiting for a Group Risk & Claims Officer to join a well-established transport and logistics business. This is a key role focused on supporting risk management, monitoring operational performance and assisting with incident reduction across the network. You will take responsibility for investigating transport related incidents including goods in transit (GIT), road traffic collisions (RTC) and operational damage. Working closely with operations, fleet, compliance teams, customers and insurers, you will play a vital part in protecting the business.
Your Job:
- Claims & Incident Processing: Process GIT, RTC and damage claims from initial notification through to resolution. Investigate liability and gather evidence to challenge claims where directed. Communicate with insurers, brokers, solicitors and customers. Record repair costs and track recovery opportunities. Maintain accurate claims records and assist with financial tracking.
- Operational Risk Support: Log recurring issues and track trends across operations. Assist with root-cause analysis across depots, ports and fleet types. Support initiatives to reduce damage and risk. Visit operational sites and customer locations when required.
- Driver & Operational Support: Conduct driver debriefs following incidents. Assist with driver coaching on best practice, inspections and loading. Work alongside training and compliance teams to monitor standards.
- Reporting & Data Administration: Compile data for weekly and monthly management reports. Track claims frequency, costs and trends. Maintain reporting dashboards using Power BI and Smartsheet. Prepare findings for management review.
- Customer & Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain working relationships with customers, subcontractors and key stakeholders. Attend customer meetings regarding performance. Support audits and operational reviews.
- Compliance Oversight: Check subcontractor compliance including insurance and documentation. Assist with audits, investigations and process rollouts.
What we need from you:
- Experience within transport, logistics, fleet, insurance or claims administration.
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication and stakeholder liaison ability.
- Confident using Excel and reporting systems.
- Experience with Power BI or similar (desirable).
- Solid understanding of transport operations and operational risk.
