Our returning client is nearing completion of a large renovation project and is looking for an exceptional House Manager to come on board and start preparing for occupancy.

We would like to hear from candidates who have experience looking after a property of a similar scale and have dealt with an ‘end of defects’ snagging period.

The initial stages of the role will be about learning how the property works, setting up the interiors, onboarding and training a team of household staff. The property will house a significant art collection, so ideally you will have experience of all that goes into overseeing such a collection (insurance, hanging, security etc).

Once the client is in residence, you will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the household, ensuring the property and family are well looked after. The house will be used for entertaining so you will need to cultivate an atmosphere of slick, efficient service and a warm, welcoming environment.

This role would suit a House Manager with strong technical skills and a highly organised approach. Being responsible for the small team of staff means you will need to have a kind, approachable demeanour with the ability to lead and motivate. Utmost discretion and professionalism is required at all times for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Involvement in final stages of renovation; liaising with contractors on snagging and O&M documentation
  • Management of planned preventative and reactive maintenance schedules
  • Property/asset management; liaising with contractors and maintenance technicians
  • Management of household staff to ensure a smooth-running operation (eg working rota, timesheets, holiday planning, HR matters)
  • Organising and overseeing events and front of house service
  • Setting the culture and ensuring the team works smoothly and efficiently to cover all areas.
  • Managing workstreams and priorities to ensure the Principal’s needs are met.
  • Administrative tasks such as household budget & cash flow management
  • Maintain up-to-date inventories of wine, spare equipment, household items, warranties etc

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior management position
  • Longevity in previous roles
  • Ideally experienced in hospitality and private household settings
  • Must have excellent written and spoken English
  • Tech and IT savvy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hands on, muck in attitude
  • Excellent checkable references
  • Diplomatic, professional and committed

Salary: circa £60-80k+ gpa depending on experience

Days: Monday to Friday with some flexibility to work weekends when required (approx. 15 per year)

Start date: interviewing now but open to candidates with a notice period
