We’re looking a hands-on Hygiene Manager to lead a busy site hygiene team and keep production areas running to the highest standards across a large food manufacturing business. This role is central to maintaining compliance, supporting audits, and driving improvements across the site.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of all site hygiene operations, from daily cleaning schedules to deep-clean processes, ensuring the site consistently meets food safety and quality standards.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you’ll lead a team of 3 Hygiene Supervisors and an overall headcount of around 40 people. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing your team to deliver consistent, high-quality hygiene standards.
  • Planning, overseeing, and verifying cleaning activities across production areas, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintaining hygiene records, SOPs, and cleaning schedules, keeping the site audit-ready at all times.
  • Monitoring KPIs and introducing new, improved ways of working to optimise cleaning processes, chemical use, and labour efficiency.
  • Managing the hygiene budget, consumables, PPE, and contractor activities effectively.
  • About You

    You will be a practical, hands-on Hygiene Manager with experience in food or drink manufacturing, confident on the shop floor, and driven to maintain high standards.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, able to motivate and influence colleagues.
  • Clear communicator with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Industry-recognised training (HACCP, Food Hygiene, COSHH, NEBOSH/IOSH) and technical knowledge.
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in hygiene or food safety management.
  • Focused on continuous improvement and keeping the site audit-ready at all times.
