NEW ROLE – Full Time Housekeeper – Private Estate – Surrey Hills, Guildford
Ref: Full Time Housekeeper - Surrey Hills £42,000 + Guildford
Location: Near Guildford, Surrey
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £42,000+ depending on experience
Hours: Predominantly Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
A wonderful opportunity for an established housekeeper
This is a wonderful opportunity for an established, experienced housekeeper to join a beautiful private estate near Guildford, Surrey. You’ll be someone who sets the tone for high standards and leads by example within a close-knit household team.
You’ll report to the Estate Manager and work with two other housekeepers and a house assistant, keeping standards high across three houses on the estate. Housekeeping is the heart of the role, and you’ll also provide front-of-house service when the family are in residence.
Everyone on this team pitches in, so we’re looking for someone who is happy to muck in, support colleagues wherever needed and take pride in a shared effort. If you have strong private household or luxury hospitality experience, enjoy variety and would like to develop your private service skills, we’d love to hear from you.
Location and travel
Because the estate is rural, a full driving licence and your own car are essential. This role would best suit someone who lives within about 30 minutes of Guildford.
Hours and working pattern
The role is mainly Monday to Friday, with eight-hour shifts arranged around the household’s needs. Shifts may include:
- 8am to 4pm
- 11am to 7pm
- 2pm to 10pm (when the family are in residence)
You’ll need to be flexible enough to cover the occasional weekend when colleagues are on holiday, off sick or taking time off.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out thorough daily cleaning and scheduled deep cleans across all three houses
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
- Care for fine furnishings, delicate surfaces and household belongings correctly
- Handle laundry, ironing, linen changes and wardrobe care to a high standard
- Prepare bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas for the family and their guests
- Report maintenance issues, damage and stock needs to the Estate Manager
House assistant and front of house
- Provide attentive, discreet service when the family are in residence
- Serve food and drinks, set and clear tables, and help with refreshments
- Keep family and guest areas tidy, replenished and ready to use
- Anticipate day-to-day needs and respond professionally to requests
- Help the household run smoothly alongside the wider team
- You must present and communicate well at all levels.
Household support
- Monitor household supplies, keep stock records and arrange orders as agreed with the Estate Manager
- Help care for the family’s dogs as required
- Work comfortably and considerately in a family home with children and dogs
- Support colleagues and adapt to changing household priorities
About you
- Proven housekeeping experience in a private household, luxury hotel or similar high-standard setting
- Confident with thorough, hands-on cleaning, laundry and caring for different materials and finishes
- Front-of-house experience is welcome, but a willingness to learn is valued just as much
- An established professional who sets high standards and inspires others to match them
- A genuine team player who is happy to muck in and help wherever needed
- An animal lover who is comfortable around children and happy to help with the dogs
- Proactive, observant and able to use your initiative
- Able to settle into an established team and also work independently
- Well organised, with excellent attention to detail and pride in your work
- Discreet, professional and respectful of the family’s privacy
- Flexible about shifts and occasional weekend cover
- Full UK driving licence and own car, living within around 30 minutes of Guildford
£42,000+ depending on experience.
