Oak and Sage has partnered with a major healthcare provider based in London, who are seeking a Clinical AI Engineer to design, develop, validate, and deploy artificial intelligence and machine-learning systems for clinical and healthcare applications. The role sits at the intersection of clinical practice, software engineering, data science, and AI, with a strong focus on patient safety, model reliability, regulatory compliance, and real-world clinical impact.
The successful candidate will work closely with clinicians, data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product teams, and regulatory/quality specialists to translate clinical needs into safe and deployable AI solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop AI/ML systems for clinical decision support, clinical workflows, medical imaging, patient monitoring, or other healthcare applications.
- Translate clinical requirements and workflows into technical specifications and machine-learning solutions.
- Build, evaluate, and optimise machine-learning and deep-learning models using appropriate clinical datasets.
- Develop robust data pipelines for clinical, imaging, laboratory, physiological, and/or electronic health-record data.
- Implement model evaluation frameworks covering performance, calibration, robustness, bias, uncertainty, and clinically relevant endpoints.
- Support prospective and retrospective validation of AI systems in clinical environments.
- Collaborate with clinicians and domain experts to assess clinical utility, workflow integration, and safety.
- Develop production-quality software and APIs for integrating AI models into healthcare systems.
- Monitor deployed models for performance degradation, data drift, safety issues, and unexpected behaviour.
