Role Purpose
The People Partner will provide a proactive, practical and people-focused HR service, working closely with managers and employees across the business to support the effective delivery of the People agenda.
This is a broad, hands‑on role covering the full employee lifecycle, from day‑to‑day people support and HR administration through to employee relations, performance, absence, organisational change and manager coaching.
The People Partner will provide trusted advice and practical support to managers, helping to build their confidence and capability in managing their teams.
The role will take ownership of people matters from start to finish, ensuring processes, documentation and administration are delivered accurately, consistently and in a timely way.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical, timely HR advice and support to managers and employees across a broad range of people matters.
- Build strong relationships with managers, understanding their teams and supporting them with day‑to‑day people challenges.
- Coach managers to build their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
- Manage employee relations matters including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and conduct.
- Support investigations, formal meetings and hearings, ensuring matters are handled fairly and consistently.
- Support organisational change, consultation and other people‑related business activity as required.
- Support the employee lifecycle, including onboarding.
- Prepare letters and documentation and maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Respond to day‑to‑day manager and employee queries and ensure HR administration is completed accurately and on time.
- Support the development and consistent application of People policies and processes.
- Use people data and casework to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to People projects and the continuous improvement of the People service.
- Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a generalist HR/People role.
- Good practical experience of employee relations and advising managers.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR practice.
- Confident supporting absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to coach and appropriately challenge managers.
- Organised and able to manage a varied, hands‑on workload with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable completing HR administration and maintaining accurate employee records and documentation.
- CIPD qualified or working towards a relevant qualification is desirable.
- Experience within a manufacturing, operational or fast‑paced environment would be advantageous.
