Silcom’s Chains is a UK manufacturer and supplier of engineered conveyor chains, sprockets and associated components used across demanding industrial environments.
We're growing our Chains business and looking for a technically minded Sales Engineer to develop customers across the South of England.
This is a true field sales role.
You'll spend much of your time on the road, visiting customer sites, building relationships, identifying opportunities and helping customers solve real engineering challenges.
You don't need to be a conveyor chain expert.
If you understand conveyors, material handling, bulk handling, power transmission or similar engineered products, we're interested in speaking with you.
The Role
You'll manage and develop your territory, combining new business development with account management.
Your customers will include businesses across Energy from Waste (Ef W), recycling, wastewater, quarrying, aggregates, biomass, power generation and general industrial manufacturing.
You'll have the backing of our Engineering and Estimating teams to develop the right technical and commercial solutions for customers.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- Lucrative Bonus Structure
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Company pension and healthcare benefits
- Car Allowance
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Holiday Purchase Scheme and Birthday Leave
- Long service awards
- Career development opportunities
- What You'll Be Doing
- Develop new business and grow existing accounts across Birmingham and the South.
- Spend significant time visiting customer sites and building relationships with engineers, maintenance teams, buyers and operational leaders.
- Identify opportunities for conveyor chains, sprockets and associated engineered components.
- Understand customer applications and work with Engineering to develop the right solution.
- Prepare and follow up quotations, negotiate opportunities and convert business.
- Build a strong sales pipeline and identify new customers, applications and markets.
What We're Looking For
- You'll ideally have experience in technical sales, business development or account management within engineering or industrial markets.
- Experience with conveyors, material handling, bulk handling, power transmission, bearings, sprockets or similar mechanical products would be highly valuable.
- You'll also need to be comfortable working independently, developing new business and spending significant time on the road visiting customers.
- Experience selling into Ef W, wastewater, recycling, quarrying, aggregates, biomass or heavy industry would be advantageous.
- A Mechanical Engineering qualification would be beneficial but isn't essential where you have strong relevant industry experience.
- A full UK driving licence is required.
Ready for Your Next Move?
If you're a technically minded Sales Engineer who enjoys being out with customers rather than sitting behind a desk, this could be a great opportunity to take ownership of a territory and directly contribute to the growth of an established UK engineering business.
