Silcom Recruitment is excited to be recruiting an experienced MOT Tester to join a well-established independent automotive garage based near Wallingford, Oxfordshire. Our client has been serving the local community for over 40 years and provides a comprehensive range of MOT testing, servicing, repairs and diagnostic work. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, experienced team within a professional and well-equipped workshop. The business is happy to consider both full-time and part-time applicants, offering flexibility for the right individual.

As an MOT Tester, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests to the required DVSA standards, accurately identifying vehicle defects and ensuring customers receive a professional and reliable service. Depending on your experience, there may also be the opportunity to support the wider workshop with servicing, maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities & Requirements of an MOT Tester:

  • Carry out MOT tests accurately and efficiently, ensuring all vehicles meet current DVSA safety and roadworthiness standards.
  • Complete all required MOT documentation and records accurately and in line with current regulations.
  • Identify vehicle defects and clearly communicate any advisory or repair requirements to the wider workshop team.
  • Support with general vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair work where required and depending on experience.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and cleanliness within the workshop.
  • Previous experience working within a busy automotive workshop or independent garage environment.
  • A valid MOT Tester qualification and current MOT testing status are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, mechanical systems and current MOT testing requirements.
  • Ability to work confidently both independently and as part of an experienced team.
  • A professional, reliable approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred.

The Package:

  • Salary: Up to £38,000 Basic Salary.
  • Working Hours: Monday To Friday - 08:00 - 17:30 - No Weekends.
