Are you a skilled Zulu interpreter with a passion for breaking language barriers? SILA Linguists is searching for experienced Zulu interpreters to join our freelance team.

Position: Freelance Zulu Interpreter
Location: Remote and Various locations in the U.K.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate interpretation services between Zulu and English
  • Assist in facilitating effective communication for Zulu-speaking individuals in a variety of settings, including healthcare, legal, educational, and social contexts
  • Maintain detailed records of assignments and adhere to client-specific guidelines
  • Comply with our rigorous Code of Conduct
  • Furnish a precise, confidential, and unbiased interpreting service
  • Uphold the utmost quality by adhering to all interpreting standards
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication, language, and organisational abilities
  • Be punctual, dependable, confident, enthusiastic, and professional
  • Maintain impartiality and fairness, displaying courtesy towards clients and service users
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of the culture of both languages

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Zulu and English
  • Prior experience as Zulu interpreter
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dedication to professionalism and confidentiality
  • Flexibility and availability for freelance assignments

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ Interpreting experience
  • Community Interpreting Level 3 Certificate
  • DPSI
  • Any other qualifications related to Interpreting or Translation
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation or Linguistics
  • Ph.D. or Doctoral in Linguistics
  • Certificate of Higher Education in Translation, Interpretation, Languages, Philology or Linguistics
