The Business Development Manager – Concrete (Europe) is a strategic regional role responsible for accelerating growth, strengthening competitiveness, and improving profitability of the Concrete Admixtures business across Europe. We are looking for a highly experienced concrete professional with strong technical and commercial expertise, capable of supporting multiple technologies, specialty products, and market segments to drive sustainable business expansion and margin improvement. This role can be located in any European country where Sika operates.

  • European Business Alignment & Strategic Coordination: Act as the primary regional business development lead across Europe (EU‑North, EU‑DACH, EU‑South). Align country priorities, action plans, and strategic initiatives with regional objectives. Identify structural business gaps and coordinate cross-country solutions. Ensure structured exchange of Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs) across countries to accelerate execution and performance.
  • Strategic Growth & Market Share Expansion: Identify high-potential markets, segments, and customers across Europe where market share is below potential. Develop and support targeted growth plans with country management teams. Support key strategic accounts and major customer engagements when required. Drive structured pipeline follow-up on priority opportunities.
  • Execution of Regional Growth Initiatives: Lead the European rollout of new concrete admixture technologies and specialty products, segment-focused initiatives (ready-mix, precast, Cement, etc.) and focus initiatives (Fiber, WT, etc.), value-selling and differentiation programs including Selling Sustainability and Digitalization. Ensure countries are commercially and technically prepared for successful implementation. Monitor execution progress and ensure accountability and follow-up.
  • Field Engagement & Customer Support: Maintain strong field presence across European markets. Visit countries and customers regularly to identify growth barriers, technical challenges, and commercial opportunities. Travel across Europe (> 50%). Support complex technical-commercial discussions where regional expertise is required. Collect structured field feedback to refine strategies and initiatives.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Benchmarking: Consolidate market intelligence across Europe, including market trends and growth drivers, competitor positioning and strategies, estimated market shares and structural differences. Translate insights into actionable recommendations for regional and country management.
  • Product Gap Identification & R&D Interface: Identify product or performance gaps limiting competitiveness in specific European markets. Define clear business cases and technical requirements in collaboration with country teams. Interface with R&D and technical functions to support development, validation, and commercialization of improved or new solutions.
  • Financial & Profitability Focus: Understand country-level P&L performance including growth, contribution margin, product mix, and pricing. Support initiatives aimed at improving both top-line growth and bottom-line profitability. Contribute to business optimization, value-based selling, and margin enhancement initiatives.
  • Capability Development & Knowledge Transfer: Organize regional workshops, trainings, and business reviews across Europe. Promote structured sharing of experiences to be replicated. Strengthen collaboration culture between European markets.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent (mandatory)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a managerial role related to concrete admixtures, ready-mix and/or precast concrete, or construction chemicals
  • Proven regional or multi-country business development experience
  • Strong track record in commercial growth and technical support roles
  • Strong leadership and management competencies with the ability to guide, align, and support cross-country teams.
  • Strong technical understanding of concrete and admixture technologies
  • Commercial acumen with clear P&L and profitability understanding
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline
  • Ability to influence across countries without direct authority
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-cultural collaboration skills
  • High mobility and willingness to travel extensively
  • Structured, data-driven and result-oriented mindset
  • English – fluent (mandatory)
  • German/French/Spanish: Additional European languages are an advantage
