We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Trade Distribution Team. If you enjoy building trusted customer relationships, solving problems and developing new opportunities, we’d love to hear from you — even if you do not meet every requirement listed.

About the UK role: We are looking for a field salesperson to join our Southern team, which covers the South-Central area. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Trade Distribution account customers across postcodes BD, DH, DL, DN, HD, HU, HX, LS, NE, TS, WF. Trade Distribution customers are made up of Distributors to Professional End Users and Professional Applicators. Trade Distribution customers cover all areas of Sika UK Target Markets, so close collaboration with Target Market colleagues will be essential.

The South team consists of 5 Business Development Managers and this role would suit an individual that is proactive, has strong relationship building skills, is enthusiastic and has a desire to succeed.

Purpose of the Role: To maximise sales and profitability through the education and relationship management of customers and potential customers within the Trade Distribution Market.

The Support: The UK Distribution team is one of trust, honesty & respect, motivation and fun, being supportive, sharing our passion and collaborating. You will work alongside the Northern Head of Sales and the wider team to develop the Trade Distribution product and service offering strategically, complementing the wider business and creating a strong sense of achievement in the process. You will be supported with product training, joint customer visits and time with colleagues to build your understanding of the business model, opportunities and market needs. We also welcome candidates who bring fresh ideas, curiosity and a collaborative approach to helping the team succeed. In addition, wider support is provided by multiple areas of Sika including Marketing, UK Distribution, Product Management and Technical Training.

Qualifications: We are looking for a motivated, organised and proactive individual who can take ownership of their region, build strong relationships and support growth for Sika’s distribution partners. You do not need to come from a construction industry background to succeed in this role — we are keen to hear from people with transferable skills from B2B sales, trade distribution, customer account management, merchanting, retail, specification sales or technical customer support backgrounds.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage a territory, organise workload and identify growth opportunities.
  • Commercial awareness and motivation to grow sales, support customers and deliver margin growth.
  • Confidence presenting to customers and working collaboratively with internal teams.
  • A positive, proactive and organised approach, with a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft programmes. CRM experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • A clean, current UK driving licence.
  • Ideally, experience in field sales, customer account management or a related commercial role.
  • Ideally, you will live in or near the area to be covered.
