Overview
In this role you will design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems for high-profile aerospace and defence programmes.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, manufacturable solutions across the full product lifecycle.
You’ll contribute to concept through testing, participate in design reviews, and manage changes within governed lifecycles.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools
- Produce 2D drawings in line with BS, ISO, ASME standards
- Support concept development, detailed design, and maturation activities
- Perform tolerance analysis and ensure DFMA
- Work with systems, manufacturing, and test teams for design integration
- Support design reviews (PDR, CDR) and provide technical input
- Contribute to verification and validation activities, including testing and analysis
- Manage design changes, documentation, and configuration control processes
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal engineering governance
- Key requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical design within regulated industries (aerospace, defence, automotive)
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools (Solid Works, Creo, CATIA, NX)
- Experience producing 2D drawings and 3D models to a high standard
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles
- Experience with structured engineering lifecycle frameworks (V-model)
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate into design solutions
- Familiarity with configuration management and design change processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
