THE OPPORTUNITY

SII UK is seeking an experienced Project Planner to support our customer in the Defence sector. The successful candidate will work on a high-profile and secure defence programme, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality planning solutions. This role will require a strong background in Primavera P6, baseline and schedule management, and resource planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and develop detailed project schedules in Primavera P6, in line with planning standards and programme requirements.
  • Collect, verify, and maintain forecast updates from internal teams and suppliers, ensuring alignment with master timelines and corporate planning processes.
  • Lead the creation, approval, and maintenance of baseline schedules, working closely with the project team to ensure all deliverables and milestones are captured.
  • Assess and implement changes through formal processes, including developing what-if scenarios and performing schedule impact analyses prior to approval.
  • Load and manage resource assignments using the Enterprise WBS Dictionary, allowing for accurate levelling and identification of potential resource constraints across the programme.
  • Generate and present progress reports to senior stakeholders, including inputs for progress meetings and monthly programme review boards.
  • Actively support and develop the wider planning community within the team by mentoring junior planners and sharing best practices.
  • Use your prior experience to bring efficiencies and insight to both the programme and the planning function, leaving a lasting, positive legacy within the customer’s organisation.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in Primavera P6 and complex programme planning
  • Strong understanding of baseline management, forecasting, and change control processes
  • Familiarity with Defence or high-security sectors preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across stakeholder groups
  • Experience in resource loading and analysis using an Enterprise WBS Dictionary
  • Strong reporting skills, particularly in preparing data for senior leadership and programme boards
  • Ability to mentor and uplift team capabilities through knowledge sharing
