We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Sign Maker & Installer to join our busy team at Signs Express (Exeter & Plymouth). This varied role involves the production and installation of a wide range of signage solutions, including vehicle graphics, interior and exterior signs, window graphics, exhibition displays, and large-format prints. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Location: Signs Express (Exeter & Plymouth), 11 Newcourt Barton Farm, Clyst Rd, Topsham, Exeter EX3 0DB
Salary: Dependent on experience
Working Hours: Full-time position, Monday-Friday
Travel: A full, clean driving licence and own transport is essential for local travel between Exeter & Plymouth
About Us: We are part of the UK and Ireland’s leading signage and graphics network with an excellent reputation for bespoke solutions, delivered with excellent customer care.
Duties Include:
- Installing all types of internal and external signage, including fascia and post-mounted signs.
- Application of vinyl onto a variety of substrates including vehicles and window graphics.
- Interpreting briefs accurately with a great understanding of different signage and manufacturing techniques.
- Sign making, working with a wide range of substrates including aluminium, ACM, acrylic, wood, vinyl and Foamex, to a consistently high standard.
- Support all in-house production.
- Ideally have experience operating and maintaining a large format printer, plotter and laminator.
- Ensuring all installations are completed on time, to budget and to our usual high standards.
- Following all company procedures and guidelines to ensure all signs are fitted safely and securely.
- The ability to work at height and use power tools in line with H&S guidelines.
- Taking responsibility for your own and others’ health and safety when working.
- Ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements are understood and followed.
What we would like from you:
- A minimum of two years’ industry experience making and installing a wide range of signage solutions.
- Experience in the use of wide format printers, vinyl plotters and laminators is desirable.
- Proven experience in a sign fitting role is necessary, including vehicle graphics application, panel application and installation.
- You will have a positive, can-do attitude, be well organised and be able to work alone as well as part of our team.
- Working knowledge of design and RIP software (desirable).
- The ability to interpret briefs accurately.
- IPAF/PASMA/CSCS accreditations (desirable but not essential).
- Professional, flexible, enthusiastic individual, a strong communicator, well organised and be able to work alone, as well as part of a team.
- An understanding of the importance of health & safety.
- You will have the use of our company vehicles, with uniform and PPE also being provided.
