Director – IP & Intangible Assets Advisory
A rare opening has arisen in a leading professional service firm looking to grow its Intangibles, Data & Technology (IDT) business, focusing on intellectual property and intangible assets and their intersection with tax and commercial strategy.
This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary advisory business and bring specialist IP capability to complex tax-led and wider advisory mandates, helping clients understand, structure, commercialise and unlock value from their intellectual property and intangible assets.
The role is deliberately broader than traditional legal IP advisory. It will suit someone who understands the commercial and economic importance of IP and can work alongside tax, legal and other specialists.
Role
Working closely with senior colleagues across Tax, Legal and the wider business, you will advise clients on the IP and intangible asset issues arising from their business models, transactions, reorganisations and growth strategies.
You will likely cover areas such as:
IP ownership, location and structuring identification and valuation of IP and intangible assets commercialisation and licensing IP transfers and reorganisations, including cross-border arrangements Patent Box, R&D and innovation-related incentives transfer pricing considerations relating to IP and intangible assets wider transactions and business transformations where IP is a significant driver of value. The role is broader than traditional legal IP advisory and will involve bringing specialist IP capability to tax-led and wider multidisciplinary mandates.
There will also be an opportunity to help shape and grow the capability, developing client opportunities and working across disciplines to take propositions to market.

We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:
Big Four, potentially with specialist IP capability sitting within a tax or wider advisory business consulting or other professional services environments law firms, where the experience is commercially focused and has significant exposure to tax-related IP issues. You do not need to be a conventional tax or transfer pricing specialist. You may instead be an IP specialist whose work has increasingly intersected with tax.
We are particularly interested in individuals who offer a combination of:
strong commercial IP and intangible assets expertise experience of IP ownership, structuring, valuation, licensing and commercialisation exposure to tax-led, international or cross-border matters commercial judgement and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset the confidence to engage credibly with senior stakeholders an interest in helping build and grow a developing capability. This is not a traditional IP portfolio management role and we are not looking for someone whose experience is principally focused on trademark registration, patent prosecution or routine IP administration.
