Our client, a well-established coach operator, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled PSV Mechanic to join their Workshop Team at their head office in Stocklake, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

About the Role

The workshop is responsible for maintaining and repairing a large fleet of coaches and smaller vehicles. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will use their technical expertise to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, as well as the General Manager and Senior Operations Manager, the PSV Mechanic will collaborate closely with the wider Workshop Team, Yard Operatives, and Drivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential mechanical and electrical issues before they lead to breakdowns.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and brake repairs.
  • Attend vehicles roadside when necessary.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and manual methods.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.
  • Ensure full compliance with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) regulations and PSV operator standards.

Requirements

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous experience in a similar PSV/HGV maintenance role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in working with a variety of people.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.

Desirable:

  • PSV Licence, including CPC.
  • Previous experience working with HGVs or coaches.
  • Knowledge of the coach and coach travel industry.

Hours & Salary

Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 17:30. Overtime available. Competitive salary in the region of £39,000 - £40,000 per annum.
