Signatus are working with a well-established solicitors practice based in Belfast City Centre that has a thriving body of family law work, but needs an experienced practitioner to bring structure to the department. They are looking to appoint a family law solicitor to join their team in a head of family department position. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor operating effectively as Head of department or competent at stepping up in their career to lead a small team consisting of an NQ, 2PQE and a legal secretary.
The successful candidate will assist in managing a diverse caseload, covering a broad spectrum of family and matrimonial law matters. Both legally aided work and private client work is covered with the opportunity to develop a body of Private client work within the role.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing own caseload of family law and children’s law cases
- Advising clients on legal rights and obligations
- Preparing court documents and attending hearings
- Liaising with clients, experts, and other legal professionals
- Supporting senior solicitors with complex cases
- NI qualified solicitor 5+ PQE required
- Strong interest and foundational experience in family law
- Excellent communication and client management skills
- Proactive, organised, and able to work independently
