About the Role Signature Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an innovative organisation within the sustainability sector to recruit a System Engineer .

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to take ownership of business critical systems that support scientists and engineers in a fast growing, mission driven environment.

The System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, improving and evolving the infrastructure that underpins data collection, automation and operational performance.

The role offers a unique blend of cloud, infrastructure, hardware-adjacent systems and modern engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities Own, operate and improve the organisation's time-series data platform.

Maintain and extend on premise and edge infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.

Manage and support Linux-based servers and build containerised applications.

Monitor and maintain edge devices and laboratory data collection systems.

Build observability and monitoring capabilities to proactively identify issues.

Support integrations between control systems, software applications and data infrastructure.

Develop and maintain documentation, operational procedures and runbooks.

What We're Looking For Experience in infrastructure, systems, Dev Ops or platform engineering.

Strong Linux administration and networking knowledge.

Hands on experience with Docker, infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD environments.

Exposure to both cloud and on premise infrastructure.

Experience with SQL databases, messaging technologies or time-series data platforms.

Comfortable working independently and collaborating across multiple teams.

A pragmatic, curious individual with a passion for continuous improvement.
