About Signal Ocean: Signal Ocean is the technology arm of the Signal Group. Our primary product, The Signal Ocean Platform, enables shipping professionals to securely handle, integrate, and assess intricate collections of private and public shipping data. Driven by advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence, our technology suite provides tailored, exclusive insights that support our clients in achieving performance and efficiency. Signal has recently acquired AXSMarine - a business with over 25 years of experience in the freight and commodities space - and is actively integrating the two companies.

About the Role: We're hiring a Director of Growth to own the engine behind our commercial scaling - leading Marketing and Revenue Operations as an integrated function, with a team of 5-10 across both disciplines reporting directly to you. We’re seeking a strategic, analytical, and execution-oriented Director of Growth to lead our efforts across Marketing, Revenue Operations, Enablement, AI Initiatives. This role is a linchpin in driving scalable growth infrastructure, aligning go-to-market functions, and unlocking insights through smarter systems and tools. Reporting to the CRO, you’ll work closely with both the marketing and RevOps teams across both Signal and AXS and cross-functional teams - Commercial, Product and Engineering - to standardise how we operate commercially. This role requires a rare blend of consulting-level structure, startup agility, and deep technical fluency.

You will have responsibilities spanning across four pillars, with the following priority:

  • Marketing
  • Brand building
  • Revenue Operations
  • Enablement and AI Initiatives

What the Successful Candidate Looks Like: The ideal candidate is a data-driven systems thinker with a proven ability to design and optimize go-to-market engines across the entire commercial funnel. You bring deep expertise in Revenue Operations within B2B SaaS or/and high-growth startup environments, and thrive on turning complex challenges into scalable, repeatable solutions. You’ve successfully partnered with Product and Engineering teams, understand how to drive alignment across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, and are energized by building the infrastructure and tooling that powers growth. While shipping experience is a plus, it's not a requirement - what matters is your ability to quickly understand new markets and create value through insight, process, and technology.

Why This Role: You'll be joining at the point where Signal Ocean's product-market fit is proven but the commercial engine needs an architect. This isn't a maintenance role - you'll be designing the operating system for how a 400-person business scales its revenue from here.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing & Demand Generation: Lead the full marketing function across the combined Signal + AXS organization — from strategy to execution. Execute high-impact campaigns with clear ROI to sharpen targeting, improve conversion, and accelerate pipeline. Connect the dots across all websites/systems/slack fully integrated with the use of AI. Align marketing tightly with Sales and Customer Success to ensure campaigns translate into revenue, not just impressions.
  • Brand & Market Presence: Own the combined Signal + AXS brand narrative — defining how the merged company shows up in the market, what it stands for, and why it's the category leader in shipping intelligence. Drive a step-change in brand visibility: more content, more noise, more presence at industry events, in trade press, and across digital channels. Consolidate and elevate the Signal and AXS digital presences into a single, authoritative brand - website, social, thought leadership - that reflects the scale and ambition of the combined business. Build Signal + AXS into a recognized voice in the maritime tech space through PR, partnerships, and executive positioning.
  • Revenue Operations: Build and optimize scalable revenue processes across Sales, Marketing. Establish and maintain data integrity, performance dashboards, and forecasting systems. Lead initiatives to improve pipeline visibility, customer segmentation, and revenue attribution. Pricing strategy across combined products.
  • Enablement: Design and implement structured enablement programs across onboarding, training, and continuous learning internally and externally. Drive knowledge-sharing, process documentation and tooling adoption across the GTM teams. Lead enablement for graduate programs and commercial onboarding tracks.
  • AI & Automation Initiatives: Evaluate, introduce and scale AI-driven tools that improve lead generation, data enrichment, and internal efficiency. Partner with product and data teams to embed automation into customer and internal workflows.
  • People Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop a team of 5-10 across Revenue Operations and Marketing, setting clear objectives, running regular 1:1s, and creating an environment of accountability and growth. Identify skill gaps and development opportunities within the team; build individual development plans that align team capability with business needs. Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration, ensuring RevOps and Marketing operate as a single, integrated growth engine rather than parallel tracks.

Requirements:

What You Bring: 7+ years of experience in Marketing, Revenue Operations, Growth, and/or Commercial Strategy - ideally with a mix of high-growth startup and structured environments (consulting, corporate strategy, or similar). Executive storytelling leadership across the full marketing lifecycle, from brand narrative to product messaging and growth campaigns. Proven people management experience: you've led a team across at least one commercial function (RevOps, Marketing Ops, Enablement, or Growth). Deep, hands-on experience with tools like Salesforce, Jira, and Google Analytics - you've configured these systems, not just used them. A track record of building repeatable, scalable GTM processes that improved pipeline visibility, forecasting accuracy, or revenue attribution in measurable ways. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to ambiguity - you break complex challenges into workable components and prioritise ruthlessly. Experience evaluating and deploying AI tools and automation across commercial workflows - you are able to identify high-leverage use cases and drive adoption. Exceptional cross-functional communication - you're as comfortable presenting to a CEO as you are whiteboarding with an engineer or coaching a junior team member.

Preferred Qualifications: Engineering degree or technical background - not a requirement, but a strong advantage given the technical nature of the platform and the need to partner closely with Product, Data, and Engineering. Experience in B2B SaaS, vertical SaaS, or data/analytics platforms - particularly at companies in the $5M–$30M ARR range where you've lived through the scaling challenges this role will face. Familiarity with SQL, no-code/low-code automation tools (Zapier, Make, Retool), or data visualisation platforms (Tableau, Looker). Maritime, commodities, or energy industry experience is a genuine plus but not required - what matters is the ability to learn a specialist market quickly and add value through process and insight.

Benefits: Generous compensation with additional performance incentives. Coverage under the company’s collective health insurance plan. Opportunity to work alongside experienced people with deep knowledge in software engineering, data science & shipping business who are always eager to mentor. Signal’s hybrid remote work policy currently includes 6 working days at premises per month. 2-4 weeks of onboarding training to prepare you for your new role, having the opportunity to meet about 30 trainers while diving deep into our products and/or the shipping world. Career growth opportunities and a structured development discussion every 4 months. Personal learning budget for training, seminars, conferences (750 to 2000 EUR annually depending on seniority). Regular team bonding events and activities. Fitness benefits to support your health and wellbeing.

Strict adherence to Confidentiality, Intellectual Property and Non-Compete provisions is expected. All applications will be considered under the terms and conditions of confidentiality in accordance with the regulations of personal data protection. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. At Signal, we believe that diversity of opinions, approaches and viewpoints is key to our innovation and success and we encourage that with our hiring, development and rewards practices.
