About the role: We are looking for a Legal Counsel, Commercial & Data to join the Signal Group's Legal team. This is an in-house role with primary ownership of the Group's commercial contracting and data licensing work, reporting to the VP Legal and working closely with Sales, Product, Data and Technology. You will independently run negotiations on data licensing, SaaS and technology agreements, vendor contracts, APIs and order forms across the Group. We need someone commercially fluent enough to understand how data and technology products actually work, and experienced enough to negotiate and close major agreements with limited supervision.

What you will do in this role:

  • Commercial contracting: You will manage drafting, review and negotiation of the Group's B2B agreements: SaaS and subscription terms, enterprise contracts, order forms, vendor and procurement agreements, NDAs and similar commercial agreements.
  • Data licensing and commercialisation: You will draft and negotiate data supply, licensing, redistribution and API agreements, working with product and data teams to make sure contract terms match how data is actually used.
  • SaaS, product and contracting framework: You will advise across the commercial lifecycle of the Group's SaaS and API products, and take a leading role in developing and maintaining the relevant contracting framework.
  • Vendor contracts and IP: You will negotiate technology and data vendor agreements and advise on legal matters across software, datasets, APIs and models.
  • Strategic and cross-functional work: You will support the VP Legal on contract migrations, post-acquisition integration, new commercial models and material contract due diligence, and contribute to improving templates, playbooks and legal tech.

What you bring to the team:

  • Qualified lawyer in Greece and/or England and Wales (or another relevant jurisdiction).
  • 5+ years PQE in B2B commercial contracting, with SaaS, technology or data licensing as a core part of that experience.
  • Track record of independently leading negotiations on data licensing, SaaS or API agreements from term sheet to signature.
  • Comfortable assessing IP and data rights questions (ownership, derived data, redistribution).
  • Working understanding of privacy and data protection issues as they arise in commercial contracts.
  • Confident negotiating directly with senior counterparties and internal commercial stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

What we offer:

  • Generous compensation with additional performance incentives.
  • Coverage under the company’s collective health insurance plan.
  • Signal’s hybrid remote work policy currently includes 9 working days at premises per month, during which happy hour events take place.
  • 2-4 weeks of onboarding training to prepare you for your new role, having the opportunity to meet about 30 trainers while diving deep into our products and/or the shipping world.
  • Career growth opportunities and a structured development discussion every 4 months.
  • Personal learning budget for training, seminars, conferences (750 to 2000 EUR annually depending on seniority).
  • Regular team bonding events and activities.
  • Fitness benefits to support your health and wellbeing.

All applications will be considered while upholding the terms and conditions of privacy in compliance with personal data protection regulations. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. At Signal, we believe that a variety of perspectives, approaches, and viewpoints are essential for our innovation and success, and we support this through our hiring, development, and rewards practices.
