Junior Buyer – Bikes & Hard Goods

Reporting directly to the Bikes Buying Manager, the Junior Bikes & Hard Goods Buyer is responsible for selecting, purchasing, and managing inventory for cycling-related products such as bicycles, components, tools, and accessories. They ensure the right mix of products is available to meet customer demand while aligning with Sigma Sports commercial targets & values. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the cycling industry, product trends, and customer needs, with the willingness to learn and further develop the commercial Buying skills in an energetic, high-performing team. This role requires collaboration with Suppliers & Brands as well as internal teams. As an advocate for innovation and exclusivity being key pillars to the commercial strategy, it is vital to ensure the best products are available, while maintaining optimal inventory levels to the benefit of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To oversee & assist in driving all aspects of a specified product category to exceed sales & profit targets.
  • Manage the product range portfolio to provide a well-structured customer-centric range for each target customer segment.
  • Be hungry to manage the price position of the range to be in line with the commercial pricing strategy.
  • Work closely with the Buying Manager to manage the supplier relationship to ensure Sigma Sports is advantaged in the marketplace through improved trading terms, stock availability, 1st to market & product exclusivities.
  • Assist in maintaining a rolling 3/6/12 month trading activity planner covering discounts, promotional/spot buys, new range launches, key seasonal trends all linking into the company trading plan.
  • Support the Merchandising function to ensure appropriate stock levels for each product category to support planned future demand or manage excess stocks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 2+ years of buying, merchandising, or product management experience, preferably in the cycling industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
    • Analytical mindset with experience using sales data and trends to inform decisions.
    • Knowledge of the cycling industry, including product trends and technologies.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

Full-time position with occasional travel to industry events, supplier meetings, and trade shows.
