We are looking for a SHEQ Manager. Number of Roles: 1 | Division: Logistics | Location: Castleford.

Outline of role: The SHEQ Manager (Logistics) is responsible for leading and delivering the SHEQ strategy across logistics operations, ensuring high standards of safety, compliance and continuous improvement. The role provides visible leadership across multiple logistics sites, driving a proactive safety culture, reducing operational risk and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and customer expectations. Reporting to the Compliance Director, this position plays a key role in influencing senior stakeholders and improving safety performance across a multi-site logistics environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver the Logistics SHEQ Strategy aligned to business objectives.
  • Act as the senior safety leader across all logistics sites.
  • Drive a consistent and high-performing safety culture across the division.
  • Lead the identification, assessment and mitigation of operational risks.
  • Ensure safe systems of work, policies, procedures and controls are consistently implemented.
  • Lead serious incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, including RIDDOR reporting.
  • Develop SHEQ performance measures, dashboards and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Lead behavioural safety initiatives, audits, coaching and site engagement activities.
  • Act as the lead safety contact for customers and support commercial activities including tenders and renewals.
  • Lead internal and external audits and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies.

Knowledge and experience required:

  • Proven experience in logistics, warehousing or safety leadership roles.
  • Strong track record of developing safety strategies and driving cultural change.
  • Experience working across multi-site operations.
  • Extensive experience within retail, construction, warehouse or logistics environments.
  • Deep understanding of UK SHEQ legislation and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of environmental management and implementation.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and environmental legislation.
  • Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standards.

Qualifications:

  • Full UK Driving Licence - Essential
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) - Desirable
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 qualification - Desirable
  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent - Desirable
  • Environmental and sustainability knowledge - Desirable
