As Safety, Health & Environment Manager, you'll sit on the Site Leadership Team, reporting to the UK Head of Operations. You'll shape strategic decisions on a major hazard site and see your judgement carry real weight.
You'll own the SHE management system, the COMAH safety case, and the site's alignment with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. This is the top SHE job on site, with the autonomy to set the direction, not just police someone else's.
You'll head up a team of ten across safety, environment, industrial hygiene, occupational health, compliance and security. Plenty of scope to develop people, build capability and leave the function stronger than you found it.
Up to 38% bonus and a 17% total pension contribution mean the reward matches the responsibility, giving you real security for the years ahead.
What you'll do as the Safety, Health & Environment Manager:
- Provide strategic leadership across safety, health, environment, process safety and security as part of the Refinery Leadership Team.
- Own the SHE management system and keep it aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Lead the COMAH duties, ensuring the Safety Case Report is delivered on schedule.
- Act as the site's lead authority on SHE, advising senior leaders and operational teams.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, emergency services and external stakeholders.
- Lead emergency preparedness, resilience planning and crisis management across the site.
- Develop and support your SHE and Security team of ten.
What you'll need to apply for the Safety, Health & Environment Manager:
- Demonstrable experience operating within an upper-tier COMAH site.
- A Level 6 SHE qualification as a minimum (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent), plus a relevant environmental qualification, with a strong grasp of process safety and major hazard risk.
- Strong people leadership and proven experience liaising with outside agencies such as the HSE, environment regulators and gold command, including emergency response management.
