Sightsavers is looking for an experienced Regional Laboratory Technical Advisor with experience of quality control and capacity building, to provide technical support to laboratories as part of the Reaching the Last Mile Fund (RLMF) programme.
Location: UK remote and/or Haywards Heath office based with travel to Africa.
Contract: 12-month Fixed term contract (renewable subject to funding). Hours: Full-time role with some flexibility around working hours.
About the Role: The RLMF expansion project is a six-year, $500m programme that will progress the elimination of onchocerciasis (OV) and lymphatic filariasis (LF) in Africa. The role involves standardisation, accreditation, external quality assurance, logistics and supply chains, and disseminating information. You will manage collaboration, external communications with donors and stakeholders, and disseminate information and learnings.
Responsibilities:
- Standardise and accredit RLMF funded laboratories.
- Implement external quality assurance network.
- Strengthen logistics and supply chains.
- Advise, support and provide training.
- Collaborate with other laboratories and stakeholders.
- Disseminate information and learnings.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in laboratory systems, quality control and capacity building.
- Direct experience of technical operations and sample analysis.
- Knowledge of onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis or other NTDs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
