Sight Support Derbyshire runs a befriending service for visually impaired people in Derbyshire. The service aims to relieve social isolation and improve wellbeing by linking users with volunteer befriending. As Project Coordinator, you will lead this service and take the work forward. You will work alongside the counterpart in the North and with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify suitable volunteers for our service users.
Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting home assessments and making introductions between volunteers and users;
- Providing ongoing support to both parties as relationships develop;
- Managing volunteer recruitment and matching processes;
- Maintaining smooth service delivery and achieving required outcomes;
- Adapting to change and maintaining a positive approach in a dynamic environment.
Requirements:
- Strong people skills with compassion and understanding;
- Self-starter able to work independently and take initiative;
- Experience or willingness to work with visually impaired people (training provided);
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across Derbyshire (travel costs reimbursed);
- Eligible to undergo Enhanced DBS check.
