Full time (40 hours per week over 5 days, usually 8.30 am – 5.30 pm) September 23, 2026. Join Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey as our full-time Caretaker and play a vital role in keeping our centre running safely, smoothly, and warmly for everyone who walks through our doors. Based at Bridgehead House in Ashtead, you will be the welcoming face and reliable foundation of our charity. This isn’t just a standard facility management job; it’s an opportunity to make a real difference to a charity dedicated to supporting people with sensory loss.

You will lead on creating a safe, high-quality, and accessible environment, serving as a key holder and working alongside and coordinating a small, dedicated team of volunteers and external contractors to keep our building and grounds in top shape. In this varied, hands-on role, no two days are the same. Your primary duties will span from handling day-to-day general maintenance, minor repairs, and outdoor upkeep to managing external contractors, suppliers, and safety compliance.

As our Lead Fire Marshall, you’ll oversee essential fire safety and broader health and safety checks. You will be capable of stepping in with basic IT and desk setups, support event preparation, and help maintain clean, safe, functional and accessible spaces. If you are an organised and proactive problem-solver with basic handy skills, good IT literacy, and have a practical, friendly approach, we would love to have you on our team.

Full time annual leave entitlement is 28 days per annum. Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey complies with auto enrolment, we match contributions up to 6%. We offer training opportunities suitable for each role. We pay for annual flu vaccinations and for an eye test every two years with a contribution towards work related glasses. A Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level will be required which we will arrange.
