We are seeking a Consultant Ophthalmologist to join their dedicated team – in a role that offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a specific focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Perform a range of ophthalmology procedures on patients referred to the treatment centre, adhering to centre protocols and practices.
- Conduct preoperative and postoperative activities, including clinical support work.
- Engage in outpatient assessments prior to surgery and manage all aspects of post-operative care.
- Demonstrate high-level skills in both operative and non-operative management and assessment of ophthalmology-specific procedures such as Slit-Lamp examination, Gonioscopy, Fundoscopy, and High Volume Phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia.
- Participate in the potential development of Medical Retina/Glaucoma services.
- Collaborate closely with both surgical and non-surgical colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care.
- Engage in audit, research, and management of services, contributing to departmental meetings and treatment centre management in agreement with the Medical Director.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience and high skill level in ophthalmology, particularly in surgical procedures and patient management.
- Ability to perform the listed procedures independently with an excellent clinical quality record.
- Commitment to teamwork, developing clinical care pathways, and improving these pathways over time.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards patient care.
- Willingness to provide out of hours on-call cover on a rota basis.
- Engagement in management tasks and clinical supervision of junior medical and/or other clinical staff.
