The Housing Navigator role works in partnership with SIFA’s Homeless Intervention Team and Birmingham City Council’s Housing Directorate to ensure that individuals coming to SIFA in need of housing are provided with the necessary support and guidance to engage with the Local Authority and access safe, sustainable accommodation that adequately meets their needs. A key focus of the role is to support individuals in addressing the barriers that may otherwise prevent them from accessing such accommodation. The post holder will also ensure that individuals accessing accommodation are signposted to other relevant services that may enable them to sustain their tenancies. The post holder will be a strong communicator who can engage with partner agencies and other SIFA services to ensure those accessing the space receive the correct assistance. The Navigator reports to the Service Lead and plays an essential role in the operational delivery of SIFA Fireside’s vision. Key tasks (selection of): 1. Undertake initial assessments of clients accessing SIFA Fireside and requesting assistance with housing. Capturing information about the needs of individuals presenting to us to allow us to work to address them. 2. Provide advice and support to clients, signposting and referring them to internal and external services as appropriate. 3. Maintain an active caseload of housing clients, ensuring co-production and effective support planning is implemented where appropriate. 4. Work closely with other SIFA services to ensure clients are directed to the most appropriate support at the first time of asking. 5. Work in collaboration with Birmingham City Council’s Housing Directorate to ensure that individuals requesting support are provided with a clear and comprehensive assessment and offer of assistance.
