As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the design, integration, testing, and support of electrical systems used within mission‑critical defence environments. You will play a key role in leading engineering activities, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring systems are delivered to the highest technical, safety, and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of electrical systems for defence and communication platforms.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance across electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the integration of electrical systems into wider network and communication architectures.
- Lead system installation, configuration, testing, and acceptance activities.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and systems‑related issues.
- Produce and review technical documentation including schematics, test procedures, reports, and design packs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical regulations, safety standards, and defence requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practice, and innovation activities.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Contribute technical expertise to bids, proposals, and future capability development activities where required.
Person specification
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within electrical engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, communications, systems integration, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience designing, integrating, and supporting complex electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, system integration, and network infrastructures.
- Experience working with electrical schematics, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant UK electrical standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting testing, fault finding, and system acceptance activities.
- Experience working within project‑based engineering environments.
- Experience within the defence sector and familiarity with secure or mission‑critical systems is highly desirable.
