We are seeking a skilled and motivated Communications Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure communication systems. You will play a key role in delivering complex, high‑impact solutions to meet complex operational requirements. As a Communications Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and work closely with Senior Communications Systems Engineers to design, build, configure, and maintain mission systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and optimisation of communication system architectures to meet project and customer requirements.
  • Build, configure, deploy, and test communication systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and network teams to integrate communication systems into broader solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to communication system performance and compatibility.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications, design documents, and test plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in communication technologies, applying knowledge to improve systems and processes.
  • Work closely with Senior Communications Systems Engineers, customers and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that exceed expectations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSE English and Maths, grade C or above.
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience configuring, operating and securing networks.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools, methods and processes.
  • Proven experience of supporting production environments.
  • Ability to configure custom GPOs and firewalls to enhance security.
  • Experience with the configuration of hypervisors and deployment of virtual machines.
  • Experience in the use of Linux command line interface.
  • Familiarity with message formats (desirably tactical data links).
  • Experience in the configuration and maintenance of cloud technologies.
