Role overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will oversee the day‑to‑day mechanical production activities, ensuring efficient operations, high‑quality output, and continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in driving performance, leading a skilled team, and contributing to the success of our cutting‑edge projects.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of mechanical production staff to meet and exceed production targets and quality standards.
- Plan and organise production schedules to optimise workflow and resource utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality assurance procedures, and company policies.
- Monitor and analyse production metrics, identifying areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues and implement enhancements.
- Support training and development initiatives to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports for senior management review.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies within the production environment.
Required qualifications & skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within mechanical production or manufacturing environments, preferably in aerospace, defence, or related engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, tooling, and quality control standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Demonstrable experience of implementing continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Proficient in production planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Good IT skills, including familiarity with production management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Health and Safety awareness with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Relevant technical or vocational qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 4 or equivalent) are desirable.
