We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Systems Engineer to join our fast-expanding Engineering Team. Reporting to their Team Leader, the successful candidate will work in our engineering teams to develop, build, and support secure technical solutions for our customers. They will possess at least three years’ experience working in a Communications Engineering Role working with Radios, Networks, Virtual Machines, Windows and Linux Environments and Technical Documentation. They will be able to communicate with colleagues, customers and the leadership team and understand technical documentation to deliver the correct solutions. They will display the ability to problem solve in a deployed environment and to present ideas and solutions. A strong team player with an eye for detail who continues to expand their knowledge will enable the successful candidate to progress within the organisation as we continue to grow in size.

Predominantly work will be conducted at our Colchester base or at our customer sites however hybrid working is available on occasions.

Job Description
  • Identifying, Configuring and Supporting Network equipment.
  • Virtualisation using VMWare ESXI or similar.
  • Configuration and maintenance of Windows Servers (AD, DNS, DHCP, Mail, CA etc).
  • Configuration and maintenance of Software applications.
  • Use and integration of Radio Systems and Digital Data Links.
  • Support deployed personnel, at reach or in person, with technical advice.
  • Support SNC capability development activity by keeping abreast of modern technology and understanding where it can fit in to projects and programs.
  • Support meetings and exercises with technical advice and guidance.
  • Conduct training activities in support of projects and wider employee development and conduct routine administration activity to support the tasks above.
Person SpecificationQualifications & Experience
  • CCNA, CompTIA N+ or equivalent knowledge
  • Virtualisation using VMWare
  • Experience using Linux & Windows Server 2019
  • Experience developing Secure, Technical Solutions
  • Knowledge of Firewalls, Cross Domain Solutions, SQL Administration and Agile working would be advantageous
Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and external suppliers.
  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and production of highly accurate configuration documentation.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information.
  • Proficient in the use of all MS Office applications, with a particular competence in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio.
  • Experience in using One Drive and MS Teams.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to prioritise own workload.
  • The ability to achieve Security clearances are essential.
