Working with our client, a leading injection moulding manufacturer of bespoke specialist products, we are looking for 2 Toolmakers to join their established team to support continued business growth.

Remit:

As a Toolmaker you will be responsible for the assembly, servicing and modification of injection mould & press tooling from base components using handheld tools or machines if required. This role would suit a skilled Injection Moulding or Press Toolmaker; however, CNC Machinists, Technicians and Precision Engineers will also be considered as training and development can be offered. This is an excellent opportunity to work a Monday to Friday days only role in a well-equipped modern Toolroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications to design press and mould tools
  • Operate machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to create precision parts
  • Assemble and fit precision parts together to create custom tools
  • Test and adjust tools to ensure they meet specifications for size, shape, and tolerances
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools to keep them in good working order
  • Collaborate with engineers and other departments to identify tool needs and develop solutions
  • Document/keep appropriate records of tool designs and specifications for future reference
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Work collaboratively to produce new tools from drawings and be involved in the design of tooling
  • Performing Preventative Maintenance in order to minimise unplanned downtime

Requirements:

  • Engineering Qualification / Time Served Apprenticeship
  • Have strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Previous injection moulding or press tool making/maintenance experience
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, work on own initiative or within a small tooling team
  • General understanding of how to safely operate toolroom equipment and machinery
  • Have excellent attention to detail and precision
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings both 2D and 3D
  • Computer literate with experience of using MS Excel, MS Word & Power
