Working with our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer we are looking for a Shift Manager to join their team.

Remit:
As a Shift Manager you will be responsible for the overall performance of the production operation during your shift, including health & safety, quality, cost control and people management and development. Successful candidates will have a proven background in a similar role within the manufacturing environment (experience working within injection moulding would be highly desirable but not essential as other industries will be considered). Responsibilities:
- This role ensures that the production plan is delivered safely and efficiently, whilst maintaining standards, ensuring cycle times and scrap are closely controlled, holding full accountability for shift performance and acting as a senior decision maker outside of normal working hours.
- Deliver the production plan safely and efficiently, ensuring effective use of labour and resources to meet output, quality and delivery targets.
- Monitor and drive performance against KPIs (including OEE, quality, scrap and OTIF), ensuring accurate reporting, clear shift handovers and effective issue resolution.
- Maintain product quality and compliance with customer specifications and external standards (e.g. BRC, ISO), managing non-conformances and continuous improvement activities.
- Control costs through labour efficiency, waste and scrap reduction, and support initiatives that improve reliability and performance.
- Take overall responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance on shift, ensuring safe systems of work, PPE and company safety standards are consistently followed and a strong safety culture is maintained.
- Lead and manage production teams, setting clear expectations for performance, behaviour and attendance while supporting training, development and engagement.
- Act as the senior on-site lead outside normal office hours, ensuring safe, secure and efficient site operations at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing environment (experience within injection moulding would be highly desired)
- Strong understanding of production operations, labour management, and performance control.
- Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in manufacturing.
- Experience managing KPIs such as OEE, scrap, quality, and delivery.
- Confident people manager with the ability to lead, challenge, and support teams.
- Clear communicator, able to engage with teams at all levels.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- IT literate, including use of production systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
Desirable:
- Experience working within BRC, ISO, GMP or similarly controlled environments
- IOSH or NEBOSH health and safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
