Job Overview: Working alongside our client, a specialist injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Toolmaker to join their team.

Role: As the Toolmaker you will be required to carry out any work or duties delegated by the Technical Projects Manager or Toolroom Supervisor, safely, in the correct way, on time and to the high standard required.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful Toolmaker will manufacture new injection mould tools from technical drawings and 3D CAD data to a high level of workmanship in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Repair, modify and maintain existing production tooling.
  • Fully hardened steel production tools.
  • Operate all toolroom plant and machinery safely ensuring necessary protective clothing and equipment is used at all times.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the toolroom.
  • Suggest any possible improvements to tooling or processes, for assessment by Technical Projects Manager or Toolroom Supervisor.
  • Log completed tool maintenance and repair work using the systems and databases provided.
  • Ensure correct marking and labelling of tools.
  • Be proactive in suggesting improvements in productivity and efficiency, part of the continual improvement program (CIP).
  • Good housekeeping (5S) ensure that the factory and surrounding areas are kept tidy and within health and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Qualification / Time Served Toolmaking Apprenticeship.
  • You must have Injection Moulding tool making experience.
  • You must be able to read and understand 2D drawings.
  • CNC and CAD or CadCam experience.
  • You should have experience with Hot runner systems / Valve gates and manifolds.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
