Further to ongoing sustained business growth, we are working closely with one of our manufacturing partners to appoint a CAD/CAM Engineer to join their dynamic team.

Remit:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to join a dynamic team working closely within the technical design and tooling team, responsible for producing precision components, ensuring quality and efficiency while adhering to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in operating CNC machinery, with a passion for machining and a keen eye for detail. Focus on CAM creation, optimisation of programmes and cutter selection.

Role:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications to ensure correct machining processes.
  • Work to tight tolerances and inspect finished parts to meet quality control standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Program CNC machines using Fusion software and load using controllers such as HAAS, HURCO; training will be provided for the Fusion software but prior CNC programming knowledge is required.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to optimize machining efficiency.
  • Set clamps, fixtures, and angle plates to effectively hold the parts.
  • Work with various materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, hardened steels, mild steel, and engineering plastics.
  • Ensure health & safety regulations and workplace procedures are always followed.
  • Keep a clean and tidy work area.
  • Work within a strong technical design and tooling environment.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, primarily on CNC milling machines; experience with CNC turning is an advantage.
  • Prior CAM programming experience; Fusion desirable (training provided).
  • Familiar with HAAS, HURCO, or similar machines.
  • Confident reading engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proven ability to work to tight tolerances and inspect parts accurately.
  • Strong focus on health & safety and workshop standards.
  • Experience in a precision engineering or tooling environment.
