Working alongside our client, a specialist in the design, development and manufacture of composite components, we are looking for an NPI Project Engineer as part of their business succession planning.
This position will suit an accomplished Project Engineer or NPI Engineer or Tooling Design Engineer with a background in plastics manufacturing and proficiency with CAD software. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete NPI process from initial customer inquiry through to the implementation into production.

In the role of NPI Project Engineer you will provide design and estimating support to the Sales and Marketing activities to prepare quotations, tenders, costings and technical proposals. As NPI Project Engineer you will be involved in the design & development of new products, liaising with customer design engineers to produce final designs within the budget parameters of the project.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translate the clients specifications into solutions compatible with the company’s capabilities and technical strategies.
- Provide a robust design-concept that meets the client specifications in terms of performance and quality.
- Design and liaise with toolmakers and fixture suppliers on the production of mould tools & fixtures.
- Attend DFMEA, PFMEA reviews and assist in preparing any quality documents required within the APQP process and communicate with the Project Team.
- Maintain & update factory layouts & prepare / propose layouts.
- Design and definition of Products / Moulds and associated jigs & fixtures.
- Feasibility of Products / Moulds and fixtures.
- Assessing potential risks to the Project.
- Organise design project reviews including working to set budgets.
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s Health Safety & Environmental Policy and Statutory Legislation at all times.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience within plastics manufacturing disciplines i.e. injection moulding, compression moulding, RIM etc.
- Background within automotive / OEM design an advantage but other industry sector experience welcomed.
- Tooling knowledge.
- CAD software proficiency, Catia and AutoCAD an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of project management, quality and engineering.
- Experience in the implementation of APQP & PPAP.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Technical report preparation.
